My Boat

This picture is when I first put the "Widget" in Lake Lanier, Georgia. She is a Commodore Mate 17 (1984). This was in the Fall of 1984 when I had her at Aqualand Marina. (Unfortunately, I had to sell her in April 2004. I had 20 years with this great little boat.) Although I did not have the life lines on, the main sail cover and jib cover, etc. I did have the grill on the back and the wine chest in the cabin. Her specifications are:

LOA.............................17' 2"
LWL.............................15' 0"
BEAM............................7' 1"
MAST LENGTH..........21' 4"
BOOM LENGTH..........9' 1"
DRAFT...........................12" Board Up
DISPLACEMENT....................1200 lbs.
BALLAST..........................250 lbs.
SAIL AREA........................149 sq. ft.

H.I.N.: XYVSM050M84D
XYV = Commodore Yacht Corp., St. James City, Fl.
SM = Skipper's Mate
050 = Serial Number (Probably number 50)
M = Model Format
84 = Model Year
D = Month Built is November.(Probably 1983)

Since I have had her, I have installed navigational lights, anchor light, foredeck light, life lines, 150 Genoa, a forward hatch, a single burner stove and a few other niceties. As with any project or boat, there are always new things to add (and pay for).

This is a current picture of the "Widget".

As you can see, I added life lines from the bow pulpit to the cockpit. Since I did not have a stern pulpit, I mounted the grill to the transom. She is rigged with lights (navigational lights, anchor light and bow spotlight combination and two cabin lights).

I carry the anchor mounted to the bow pulpit.

As you can see below, she actually will sail.
